The world of programming languages is home to a wide variety, each with advantages and preferences. A specific project will have specific demands, so the popularity and trends in the market vary constantly. However, the more used a language is, the more likely a developer will have to deal with it. What are the top languages in 2021? Stay with us to find out.

JavaScript

JavaScript is used for web and game development, as well as mobile apps. It is one of the easiest languages to learn since it does not require expertise in coding knowledge. According to Stack Overflow’s 2020 Developer Survey, it is the most commonly used language in the world (69.7%). Developers rely on JavaScript to manage the behavior of web pages since it allows the creation of dynamic web elements such as animated graphics, CTA buttons, etc.

When used along with HTML and CSS, it allows a higher level of website control, which helps to create a better user experience with optimized readability and navigation schemes.

Python

It is another language that is easy to learn and. Developers consider it a general-purpose kind since it allows working with a variety of programming styles such as reflective, functional, etc. It is used to develop 2D imaging and 3D animation packages like Autodesk, Blender.

One of its advantages is it has extensive support modules and community development. Another advantage of Python is its interactive qualities allow programmers to test code while working on it, which considerably reduces time and even costs.

HTML

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language and it is one of the most accessible languages to learn. It is used for the format of a website in terms of appearance. However, it is not as flexible as others and is limited to creating and structuring text on a site. Its use extends basically to website development, website maintenance, and web documents.

Aspects like headings, paragraphs, links, and sections are part of the HTML domain.

CSS

It stands for Cascading Style Sheets and is responsible for the style of the elements on a site. This language determines the color, size, and position.

CSS allows applying the style from parent elements to all children elements across a website, as in a cascade, helping developers save time since they will not have to repeat the code again and again for different components.

Java

It is one of the most common programming languages today. Though it is a more complex language to learn, it has an object-oriented structure that can be used with multiple platforms such as Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, etcetera.

Java is used data and either web or application development thanks to its portability across platforms and the amounts of data it can handle.

Go

Also known as Golang, this language was born to meet the need of programmers working on large projects. It is capable of executing multiple processes concurrently. In addition, it has an extensive vocabulary, syntax familiarity, and a modern structure.

It is used for system and network programming, big data, and audio/video editing. Go stands out in the world of programming languages since it provides top-label management features and memory safety.
